CM Punjab Solarization Program 2025 – Affordable Solar-Powered Tubewells for Farmers

CM Punjab Solarization Program for Agri Tubewells – Empowering Farmers with Clean Energy

The Government of Punjab, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has launched the CM Solarization Program for Agri Tubewells, a landmark initiative to promote solar-powered irrigation systems across the province. The program aims to enhance agricultural resilience, reduce reliance on costly fuels, and support climate change adaptation by converting 8,000 existing electric and diesel-powered tube wells into solar-powered systems.

This transformative step not only reduces the burden of high electricity and diesel costs on farmers but also contributes to a greener, sustainable Punjab.

Details of Subsidy

The government is offering substantial subsidies to farmers for solar-powered systems based on capacity requirements:

Power Capacity (KW)Amount of Subsidy (PKR)
10 KW500,000
15 KW750,000
20 KW1,000,000

For example, a farmer installing a 10 KW solar system will receive a subsidy of PKR 500,000, making solar irrigation affordable and accessible.

Farmers’ Eligibility Criteria

To benefit from the program, farmers must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a resident of Punjab Province (CNIC required).

  • Only one solar system per family will be allowed.

  • Must own at least 1 acre of agricultural land in Punjab.

  • Land ownership proof (Fard-e-Malakiat) within the same district as the application is required.

  • Eligible solar capacity: 10 KW, 15 KW, or 20 KW systems.

  • For electric tubewells:

    • Applicant must own an existing tubewell.

    • Latest paid electricity bill must be provided as proof (defaulters not eligible).

    • The connection must be installed on or before 30th October 2024.
